A day off work that you call in sick for, and quite often you're not really sick at all. People usually say they're going to "chuck a sickie".

Someone who's lazy and dodges work or effort, often leaving others to pick up the slack. A 'dole bludger' is someone people reckon is living off welfare without trying to get a job.
